Khacharaa :D
I was chatting today with a friend, who was my flat-mate for six months when we did our internship at Microsoft Research India, Bangalore. We stayed in a duplex-apartment provided by MSR. Raju, the cook cum cleaner we had, was a Nepali and Hindi was the only language we cud use to communicate with him. This friend of mine was very bad at speaking Hindi and we used to have real fun and laughed like hell every time he tried talkin to the cook bcoz what he talked never made sense.
Today, as we were chatting the discussion went on to the scrap he wrote me this morning. He wrote it in Hindi and i was shocked when I read it coz the content of the scrap made gud sense and the Hindi was also gud. I asked him how his Hindi has improved so much and he tol me a funny experience he had in pune (hez workin in pune now) coz of his poor Hindi knowledge nd how it made him learn Hindi :) Here goes...
“I din’t go to work on one of the weekdays and decided to stay home lazing around. Sometime after all my friends left, some one banged real hard on the door and when I opened the door I found a lady dressed in a gaudy coloured half-saree. The sight of her scared me as I immediately concluded from her appearance that she wud be talking to me in Hindi. She very aggressively said just one word “KHACHARAA”. I obviously did not understand what she meant and started cursing myself for staying back home when none of my friends were around to come to my rescue :( I helplessly stared in all the directions I cud and thought what it could mean. Nothing struck me and so using my intelligence (I, as usual thought I have lots of it :P (Sorry Sasi :D) ), I interpreted that she might have come to sell something and asked her, “Kitna???”. The moment I uttered the word, she gave one horrified look and ran away picking up her basket. When I narrated this to my friends, they laughed nd laughed nd finally explained me that she had come to collect garbage nd that khacharaa is the hindi word for garbage. The funniest part is, that was the last day I saw her till-date coz she never came to collect garbage again nd started sending another lady to do the job.”

There ended his narration. I laughed nd laughed, my stomach ached, tears rolled out of my eyes nd I still cudn’t control my laughter. It was then that I decided to share this with u all. Hoping u all had fun reading this :) Have a fun-filled day :)
